Welcome to IP in Focus, a blog devoted to discussing an often underserved part of intellectual property practice, the “in-house” practice.   Anyone who has worked on the “inside” knows that there are unique challenges when working in-house (establishing budgets, setting goals and metrics, accountability to management to name just a few), and my goal is to help in-house IP practitioners, whether it’s the corporate patent attorney or university tech transfer department, better manage their intellectual property, and to teach their outside counsel how to provide better service and advice on IP management issues.

Check back soon for insightful commentary, links to interesting articles, and lively discussion.

I’m looking forward to connecting with all my old friends and making some new ones.
